How to Start a Healthy Lifestyle... Again
Three years ago I embarked on an amazing expedition to beautiful Singapore (as many of you may know by now). While I was living abroad, I lost a lot of weight. Blame it on my picky eating, blame it on the boiling hot 40 degree Celsius weather, blame it on my running obsession. The point is, when I came home, I steadily gained back the weight I had lost... and then some. Now my family and friends will tell me otherwise, but I can feel it (especially in my jeans).
What really amazes me, is how much pressure is put on looking your absolute best during specific moments (and seasons) in life. There's always a self-impose challenge to workout hard and eat healthy before taking that well deserved vacation. Maybe it's because of the exponential amount of pictures bound to be taken, or the simple fact of wanting to look good for those (hopefully) long lasting memories.
But what about after you come home?
You know. After you wandered, tried new things, experienced a new culture, and ate a TON of probably not the healthiest food (and let's not even start with the alcohol consumption).
How do you re-set and get back into the groove of normalcy? If you're like me, well, then we're in this together.
I have come to find that the key to feeling great (mind, body & soul), is to start by fuelling the body.
Juicing is the perfect way to cleanse the body of built-up toxins. You know, the ones from the vacation we mentioned earlier... AND I’m not talking about that store-bought juice box. I’m talking about that delicious, nutritious cold-pressed juice.
If you’ve never heard of juicing you should probably come out from that rock you’ve been living under. The concept has been around for quite some time now but, has become increasingly popular thanks to celebs like Kim K and Gwyneth Paltrow, not to mention their undeniable health effects. One of the reasons cold-pressed juices are so much healthier is because heat is not used in production allowing more vitamins and enzymes to be contained within, that are otherwise lost in other types of juices.
And while it may be a bit more expensive, it definitely isn’t only for the rich and famous. More and more stores are popping up everywhere delivering some affordable and great products.
